Canadians kickin' it at National Finals Rodeo

Round 5 at the National Finals Rodeo had 2 Canadian round winners. Lee Graves took another round in the Steer Wrestling and Lindsay Sears, won her second round in the barrel racing. Lee has moved into the number 1 spot in the world due to that win and Lindsay is holding her second place position in the barrel racing. Brittnay Pozzi-Phar is still leading the average in the barrel racing. but was out of the round money last night. Sears will be trying to close the gap with her round wins and hoping to leave all the barrels standing from now on and move into the average payout. She is currently in 7th in the average, the fastest average with a barrel down. Sears has won more than any other barrel racer at the WNFR this year. She has won $45,745 at the half way mark.

It was great to see Deb Renger pick up a cheque last night. $2644 for her 6th place finish. Deb continues to sit strong for a big average cheque in 3rd place.

Canadian Rod Hay continues to be the only rider to ride all five of his horses and is also the contestant to have won the most money in a single at this NFR so far. He has won money every round and his 3rd place finish in round 5 took him to $51,562 he is also leading the average. After round 2 Hay went into the record books for being only the 12th cowboy to reach the 2 million mark in career earnings.

From South on the line.....
Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith won their second round in the team roping last night. This win helped Trevor beat his own season earnings record of 329,924 from a year ago, finishing the night with $342,263 on the season with five rounds to go.

Brazile is competing with a herniated disk in his back that he is finding painful. Brazile commented that is isn't affecting his team roping as much as when he gets down for his calf. His earnings between the two events would indicate that as well. His competition is closing in on him in the tie down roping.

Schumacher is holding his own in the bullriding, Woodard and Masters and sitting at the top of the World at the half way point in the team roping. In the Bareback, Bobby Mote has a substantial lead.
