Barrel Racing super tough at NFR

Of course the barrel racing is tough at the NFR, but talk about a tight race every night! The girls from the North are taking home some coin! Jill, Lisa and Lindsay being the high money earners thus far. Lisa Lockart currently leading the average. Some video highlights are online now I wouldn't go there unless you have high speed, it took a while to bring up even on my "wanna-be high speed" connection. Unfortuneatly the WNFR pages are set up with a lot of video that seems to give my computer grief. I'm not sure if it will do the same to you.

World Standings with NFR earnings
Brittany Pozzi holds a $40,000 lead on Lindsay Sears as it stands today. Lindsay is out of the average so will be going for the win every night. In the Steer Wresling, the Word Title is within reach for the to 10 in reality. A tight race there. Trevor Brazile is still holding on to the #1 spot in the Tie Down roping. He has stated this is the World Championship that would mean the most. The team roping world standing appear to be missing in action so I can't comment on where Trevor stands on making it a triple crown championship. In the Saddle Bronc riding, it is a wide open field there too. Rod Hay is currently 5th, only 24K off Cody DeMoss, the current leader.

Tipped barrels, buck off's and no times are all a possiblity that could dash the dreams of these super stars and change the leaderboards. Lets hope for clean runs and good rides to make this a very tough and exciting National Finals in all events.

The 2007 BFA World Championship Barrel Futurity and Derby is now complete. Champions were crowned Saturday night. No titles heading North this year, but the girls did well and had some really nice runs. I must say it was difficult watching some of the runs (on the webcast). Some of those colts are just fried. So many literally crash barrels (not tip, but crash) it is a bit concerning. Some of these colts need to be turned out and reprogramed.

Leslie Willis riding two different horses cashed in bigtime in the last week or so winning two 100,000 barrel races! What a huge accomplishment.

In the Futurity, Jud Little's Sooner Superstar (2003 Bay Mare - Cash Not Credit x Star Eyed Money, Denvers First Mate) ridden by Joleen Stewart took the championship. In the Derby Seven Daze (2002 Bay Gelding - Leaving Memories x GSR Easy Chick, Easy Jet) ridden and owned by Kaitlyn Prentice. Talents Dark Angel (2001 Bay Mare - Flaming Talent x Docs Abbie Lee, Docs Superstar Bar) ridden and owned by Kay Blandford took runner up.
