Brittany and Lindsay are still battling it out after the 3rd round. Neither has weakened, and not a mistake has been made. They are so close in the average still as well.
Last night Sherry Cervi and Stingray took the win with Brittany second and Linz third. Here are last nights runs.
The Steer Wrestling remains open for several but the Canadian contingent of Cassidy and Graves are holding their own in both the World Standings and the average.
In the Saddle Bronc Flundra ended the night without a score.

Lots of great runs. I hope Danyelle's Repete is going to bounce back and getem Saturday night. Looks like Lindsay and Martha got the rust cleaned out and are and the path to many more wins. With Brittany adding a second to her earnings, Linz still trails. Both will be working for solid runs in the future to secure another world championship.
The steer wrestling had a change in the leader board last night with Luke taking over the #1 spot in the world standings. Although there is still a wad of money to be won, the standings currently look like this after last night:

Canadian Saddle Bronc rider Dustin Flundra cashed in last night with a 5th place ride of 80.5. Here's hoping he can keep climbing up the ranks.
In the Round Pen there was mention of the number of Canadian owned horses being bucked at the NFR. I'm not real familiar with the horses so I'm sure to look like a fool commenting on them. NFR Barrel Racing Round 1

One down, 9 to go - NFR opening night review
Listening live online I was able to catch pieces of the opening night of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. I admit I was multi tasking so I didn't listen to every ride in every event.
What I do know is that the barrel racing was a testament to the quality of barrel racing that goes on in Canada and and at the Canadian Finals Rodeo. Many of the girls there spent a good part of June and July going to rodeos in Canada. Three of the girls in the top 5 at the NFR last night were at the CFR! Brittany Pozzi ran her young Palomino horse Duke to win the first round. She ran him at the CFR and many Canadian rodeos over the summer. You'll see Canada's very own Cowgirl of The Year Rana Walter helping Brittany down the loading area in the video. Rana is down there looking after the horses for Brittany while she focuses on meeting sponsorship commitments.
Here is Brittany's winning run. (Thank you www.rodeoup.com) She was last to go. That may be a good sign in the ground department. Hopefully it will be good for all, top to bottom.
Lindsay ran Martha for a 5th place finish. She will be just getting her warmed up and we'll expect her to get faster and faster with every run. She'll be working really hard at staying in the average since could make or break the next world champion.

All 4 of these cowboys are "just" 9 steers away from a world championship. There are others within reach, but these four are just one placing away (10K and less) from a gold buckle.

Canadian Saddle Bronc Rider Dustin Flundra rode last night to a 75 but will need a better mount and a better score tonight to get into the money.
I'll keep looking for the full round of barrel racing runs to post, but it doesn't look like our source from last year is posting to youtube like she did last year.

Canadian Finals Rodeo Live Online
November 11th will mark the first performance of the 36th annual Canadian Finals Rodeo. If you can't be there in person, the only way to catch the event live is online or on the radio through CFCW.

Performances run at 7 pm MST on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th. On Saturday there is also a matinee performance at 1 pm and Sunday the 15th at 1 pm.
